Former Bruins Winger DeBrusk Signs 7 Year deal with Vancouver

Jake DeBrusk signed a 7-year/38.5 Million dollar contract with the Vancouver Canucks on July 1st, 2024. He will join former Bruins defender Dereck Forbert and Winger Danton Heinen in Vancouver. DeBrusk played the first 7 seasons of his career in Boston, always showing promise and at times brilliance, but also left you wanting more. This was a good move for the Canucks as they’ve added a veteran player with great speed and skating ability who should be able to fit in with the Canucks high powered offense.

DeBrusk has been in trade rumors for years now and has voiced his frustrations about this in the past. At one point he even publicly asked to be traded by the team before management was able to work out a deal. His Bruins career mirrored the streakiness of his game, with the overall opinion on him fluctuating multiple times during the season. Hopefully, with the stability of finally getting a long-term deal, he will be able to focus more on his game and improve as a player.
